New ‘RoboCop’ images previews the drones, but film called ‘unnecessary’
MGM and Sony Pictures have released a new image from the RoboCop remake, revealing the Drones.
Joel Kinnaman (The Killing,The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) portrays RoboCop, who is about to deal with three of them who clearly have the advantage of having the higher ground – check out the photo below.
The film features an all-star cast but can’t seem to get much buzz or attention.
Gary Oldmann, Michael Keaton, Samuel L. Jackson, Jay Baruchel, Abbie Cornish and Jackie Earle Haley all star in the film, but M Live listed the film as one of their “Least Anticipated Winter Movies.”
They write: “Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 “Robocop” is a satirical, sci-fi masterpiece. It is hallowed ground. It already has been sullied by a few lousy sequels. A remake is unnecessary, and an insult to all that is righteous and good. This PG-13 remake will surely water down and/or discard any themes that made the first film so relevant. I don’t care if it stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jackie Earle Haley, Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton. I would not buy it for a dollar.”
RoboCop arrives in theaters on February 7, 2014.
Synopsis: In ‘RoboCop’, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. Let’s see. You are reviewing a film (1. that hasn’t come out yet. (2. you haven’t even seen, arriving to your highly journalist unobjective, useless opinion. *claps* If you haven’t seen any of Padhilla’s work, well you might just eat your words after this comes out. Reviews from advanced screening have all been positive, one even going so far to say it is “Superior” which i don’t know. The classic will forever be classic. This is going to be it’s own beast. Wait for it. Your opinion may change.
