Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone and Benedict Cumberbatch cast in Guillermo del Toro film ‘Crimson Peak’
Thursday fans learned that Star Trek Into Darkness and Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch was added to the cast of Guillermo del Toro’s next directorial effort Crimson Peak.
Now the haunted house thriller, which begins production in February 2014, has Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man) and Charlie Hunnam (Pacific Rim) attached to star as well.
According to Variety, recent Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty) is in final talks to join the impressive cast.
The film, described as a “gothic horror story,” reportedly “centers on a woman who discovers that her husband might not be whom he appears to be.”
Del Toro previously told Deadline that Crimson Peak is best described as “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.”
Chastain previously worked with the prolific director on Mama, which was executive produced by del Toro.
Variety also confirms that the actress is still considering taking the role of Jane Porter in Warner Bros.’ Tarzan movie, “but parts of the deal are still in play.”
