‘Game of Thrones’ star Lena Headey talks ‘300 Rise of an Empire,’ saying ‘It’s huge’
In issue 210 of Total Film magazine there is a ton of comic book movie updates, including a small update from Lena Headey on the 300 sequel: 300: Rise of an Empire.
“It’s huge!” she told TF, revealing that she shot 10 days on the sequel in Bulgaria. “It’s different in that Zack [Snyder] didn’t direct it, so it’s a very different feeling.
“But the film, visually, follows on very much from the original. It’s something that’s so beloved for its physicality and visceral content. I had fun; I got to hold a sword.”
Director Noam Murro takes over for Snyder as the next chapter in the 300 saga focuses on the battle between Persian god-king Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his armies, and the forces of Greece, led by Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) and Artemisia (Eva Green).
Headey’s returns as Queen Gorgo, and the film adds a new character Calisto, played by Jack O’Connell.
This time round, the battle takes place at sea, which should provide scope for some epic new action sequences.
Based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller, Rise sees a ton of new faces and a new man behind the camera.
300: Rise of an Empire is arriving into theaters on March 7th, 2014.
