The WHO notes that the epidemiological situation in Guinea has improved significantly over the last few weeks. They note that four of the six locations that have reported cases passing the 21-day incubation period with no new cases. Two incubation periods (42 days) without cases is the standard for declaring an EVD outbreak over in a particular location.
The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOHSW) of Liberia has reported a total of 35 clinically compatible cases of EVD; 6 confirmed cases, 2 probable cases and 27 suspected cases.
In Sierra Leone, health officials are investigating three patients who have illnesses compatible with viral hemorrhagic fever for possible Lassa fever or EVD. To date, Sierra Leone has not reported any EVD cases in the country.
