Colorado: Woman found dead, identified as Maria Astorga-Chavez, police seeking Javier Huerta
A body discovered by a Colorado Department of Transportation worker along the Interstate has been identified as a missing Utah woman and police have released the name of the suspect connected to her death.
Maria Maricela Astorga-Chavez, 32, is the woman found dead along I-70 on Sunday. She was last seen by family on August 6, leaving her home in a white Ford Expedition with Javier Huerta.
“…we are investigating this case as a homicide,” the police said in a statement.
Police report that they believe Huerta killed Astorga-Chavez and then dumped her body in Colorado. They are reaching out to the public to locate the suspect: a Hispanic man, approximately 5 feet 10 inches and 160 pounds. He also uses the name Jorge Martinez and other aliases.
Anyone with information about the case or the whereabouts of Javier Huerta is asked to call police at 801-840-4000.
