A small plane crashes into a Dulles Greene Apartments in Herndon, Virginia

A two-seater plane crashed into the third floor of Dulles Greene Apartments in Herndon, Va. at about 12:30 a.m. on Friday. Three people suffered minor injuries.

The small plane, which was headed from Manassas to Philadelphia, was piloted by William Larson, 61, of Vienna, Va., and his passenger was identified as Tache L. Alejandro of Orlando, Fla. The duo worked for an aerial photography company.

Virginia State Police reported that the plane experienced electrical problems and the engine cut off, when it landed right in the living room of David Ventura, who was asleep in the apartment located at 2200 Astoria Circle. While the damage was limited to the living room, much of the building’s exterior was distorted – although no “structural damage” was reported.

“Good thing it didn’t have any (fuel) when it crashed into the living room because we’d probably have a totally different scenario right now,” Capt. Willie F. Bailey with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue told WTOP.

Fortunately, the plane didn’t hit into the bedroom area, where four adults and two children were sleeping.

“You are shocked, you don’t know what’s going on,” Ventura told NBC Washington.

The plane was removed from the scene at about 7 a.m. in the morning. Larson was admitted at the Inova Fairfax Hospital, along with one of the residents of the apartment, a 33-year-old woman. His co-passenger was treated for minor injuries.
