Paul Aaron Wilkins death attributed to falling from tree
A middle school teacher and athletic director at Flat Rock Middle School was found dead near school grounds last week.
The report offered few details to the death of Paul Aaron Wilkins, but now authorities confirm that the autopsy results are consistent with a fall from a tree.
Wilkins’ body was found on private property behind the school, which is at 4648 Ebert Road, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
“He would come up on weekends and evenings, sometimes with his four boys in tow, just to check on the gym and clean up a bit,” principal Laura Hodges said in a statement.
“He was a fantastic man,” Rev. David Beaty told the Winston-Salem Journal, “[His death] is a shock to the church members.”
A 35-year-old Flat Rock Middle School teacher was preparing a tree stand for hunting later this year when he fell from a tree and died, the sheriff’s office said.
