Leslie Dickerson, Texas man, arrested for 2005 murder of wife Mindy Dickerson in Roanoke Virginia
A Spring, Texas man has been detained and officials say he will be extradited to Virginia to a 2005 murder case.
Leslie Dickerson, age 35, remains in custody at the Montgomery County Jail pending extradition to Virginia in connection with the 2005 death of his wife, Mindy Dickerson, age 26 at the time of her death.
Dickerson is considered a fugitive from justice, says Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies.
A Pulaski County grand jury indicted Dickerson Monday and alleged that between Jan. 26 and Jan 27, 2005, Dickerson “intentionally, and with premeditation and malice aforethought, killed Mindy Dickerson.”
Mindy Dickerson’s death was not publicly ruled a homicide investigation until more than four months after her body was found — when her family posted a reward for information in the classified section of The Roanoke Times.
Pulaski Police Chief Gary Roche said at the time that police did not inform the public in order to “protect the case.” In a June 2005 interview, he declined to say if there were any suspects in Dickerson’s death.
“We received official notice that Les Dickerson was arrested on first degree murder charges for the murder of my daughter, Mindy Damron Dickerson,” Patton wrote on her Facebook page Tuesday. “When Mindy passed[,] the scripture, be still and know that I am God[,] became my lifeline! Tonight God Proved himself strong on our behalf!”
