Filipina, Rizzini Alexis Gomez, crowned Miss Tourism International 2012
Just on the heels of Bataan’s Janine Tugonon’s second place showing at the Miss Universe pageant a little over a week ago, another Filipina scored big in an international beauty pageant.
Cebu, Philippines native and registered nurse, Rizzini Alexis Gomez was crowned Miss Tourism International 2012 Monday evening in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, according to the Miss Tourism International Facebook page Dec. 31.
The 22-year-old Gomez beat out 54 other contestants from around the globe to win the annual competition.
First runner-up and winner of Miss Tourism Global was Marielis Alejandra Castellanos Perez from Venezuela. She was followed by Australia’s Monika Rodulovic (Miss Tourism Metropolitan International), Paraguay’s Lourdes Maria Del Carmen Motta Rolon (Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International) and Malaysia’s Jun Yong Wan Jun (Dreamgirl of the Year).
The 5’10” Cebuano beauty was a Miss World Philippines 2012 contender. She is the first Filipina to win the pageant since Maria Esperanza Manzano won the coveted crown in 2000.
The Miss Tourism International pageant began in 1994.
