Anne Hathaway confesses she thought Dark Knight Rises audition was for Harley Quinn
Crack open the Summer Movie Preview from Entertainment Weekly and you can read a great reveal from “The Dark Knight Rises” star Anne Hathaway.
Photos of the leather clad Hathaway as Catwoman have lit up the Internet, but the “Devil Wears Prada” confessed she didn’t know she was auditioning for Selena Kyle. (Check out those photos and more – click here)
“About an hour into the meeting he said, ‘It’s Catwoman’ and I went, ‘Oh, no, I played this wrong,’ I didn’t think they would revisit that character, because Michelle’s performance had been so iconic. But Chris just does his own thing.”
Tim Burton’s “Batman Returns” featured Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman and after a failed “Catwoman” film with Halle Berry, fans were equally surprised by Nolan’s decision to include the famous villainess.
Harley Quinn has yet make it to the big screen.
The Joker’s sidekick is a fan favorite from Batman’s rogues’ gallery and after “Dark Knight” it may have seemed understandable.
Hathaway will co-star in “Rises” as Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman return with director Christopher Nolan in his third Batman film. Tom Hardy (“Inception”, “Warrior”) will play Bane, who Nolan describes as a combination of strength with absolute evil intentions.
“The Dark Knight Rises” opens July 20, 2012.
