Two Chinese Priest, Su Guipeng and Zhao He detained Without Cause
(International Christian Concern) –Father Su Guipeng and Father Zhao He, priests from Xuanhua Diocese, an underground Catholic church in China have been detained by authorities in Hebei Providence.
Sources claim that one of the pastors, Father Zhao was taken by seven unidentified people on October 24th. They came into his church and said there were from the United Front Work Department of Yangyuan County. They claimed the pastors would be returned that the was being asked to look over the new regulations on religious practices in China, but the pastor has yet to be seen.
It appears he is being detained in a hotel and under constant supervision from guards. It is believed that his phone has been confiscated, because no one can get in contact with him.
Similarly, Father Su Guipeng, a pastor in Shadifang parish was placed under house arrest on October 13th so that he could also study the new regulations on religious practices.
Earlier this year, China made an agreement with the Vatican, to recognize eight Chinese bishops. This was done in efforts to help the Catholic church in China. However, since the deal has been made it does not appear that life is better for the Catholic church in China, but is getting worse as restrictions are intensifying.
