Sarah Michelle Gellar talks ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ movie, ‘right story we would do it’
While discussing and promoting the new CBS show The Crazy Ones, Sarah Michelle Gellar spoke about the prospect of returning for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer film.
“Joss [Whedon] and I always talk about [a movie],” Gellar told E!Online. “But the thing with ‘Buffy’ is that ‘Buffy’ was a movie, and it ultimately didn’t work as a film. And I mean, we had such miles to overcome when we were trying to do a TV show based on a movie. And one of the reasons is that the story works better over time.”
The 1992 film starred Kristy Swanson and Luke Perry, serving as a precursor the popular TV show which Gellar was the star.
“If there ever was the right story, we would do it,” Gellar said. But the stars may have to align soon if anyone wants the old Buffy back in prime form. “At this point, the stake would be my walker and I would be hobbling in,” Gellar noted.
Gellar stars alongside Robin Williams in the new CBS show which arrives this fall.
