Robbie Amell, Rick Cosnett confirmed to make a season 3 ‘The Flash’ appearance

The Flash will have a few returning faces as Ronnie Raymond will make an appearance and now Rick Cosnett tweeted that he’ll be back as well.

Cosnett, who played Eddie Thawne, Iris West’s boyfriend and an ancestor of Reverse Flash, who has been the cause of Barry’s issues from the beginning.

“Ok, hate to tease you but now I can say it: I’m coming back on Photo credit @HarveyHouseP @SpencerAHarvey@lloydharvey” — @RickCosnett

Thawne has only appeared once, in a flashback episode. It’s unclear whether or not Cosnett’s return to the show will be utilized in flashbacks, or if the alternate universes created by the Flashpoint have brought him back. The latter is more likely.

EW broke the news of Amell’s return. “Details on how Amell will appear — whether in a different timeline in which he’s still alive or we’re meeting a doppelgänger from another universe — are being kept under wraps, but he’ll appear in a winter episode.”

Caitlin Snow’s (Danielle Panabaker) late husband was initially thought dead in the particle accelerator explosion but instead had been transformed into one half of the metahuman known as Firestorm with Martin Stein (Victor Garber). Shortly after marrying Caitlin, Ronnie died destroying the singularity that opened up the world to Earth-2.

Panabaker responded with a tweet which simply read: “Woo Hoo”

Fans jumped in:  I really hope his return won’t hurt Caitlin’s amazing independent storyline this season.

The Flash returns with all-new episodes Tuesday, January 24th on The CW.
