Manuela Morgado, New York mother who killed her son, heads back to court on Thursday
The Mamaroneck New York mother accused of killing her 4-year-old son is set to appear in court for a second time this Thursday, reports The Patch.
Manuela Morgado faces charges after murdering her son, Jake Reish, in an attempted murder-suicide on October 1. Morgado has now been charged with the second degree murder as the boy’s father laid the child to rest on Friday.
Timothy Reish was in a custody battle with the woman over Jake’s school.
Morgado allegedly had threatened the boy’s father and his current spouse, so the court ordered the contact to cease.
Reish himself hasn’t spoken to the press, but issued a statement through his attorneys.
“The events which led to the untimely death of our beloved Jake are both incomprehensible and unimaginable,” Reish’s attorneys of the Tarrytown-based Guttridge & Cambareri said. “We will never be able to comprehend the heinous actions of Jake’s mother.”
Morgado’s Thursday court appearance is slated for 9:30 a.m.
This is a terrible crime and no one should excuse the mother for doing this. However, some understanding is in order. Dr Reish has a lot to answer for. Why was he trying to block the mother’s efforts? Why did he want to take the boy away from her? From the story that’s unfolding, it seems that he couldn’t cope with having “two mothers” in his life. He couldn’t (and maybe his wife couldn’t) stand dealing with this decision he made to be romantically involved with Morgado. It seems he was trying to buy a “fix” for his life that would have brought the son into his already established family. This shows him to be a very small and vindictive man. If he truly loved his son he would have made sure that Morgado was free to be the great mother that everyone saw her to be. He would have paid generous child support and smoothed out the relationship so that his son would have secure and loving homes with both parents. Too bad he pushed the mother too far.
Are you fckn kidding me? He was trying to do the best thing possible for his son. Which ultimately would have been to keep that sweet little boy away from the monster that ultimately strangled him. You should be ashamed of yourself
