Kayla Peterson, Pennsylvania woman shot and killed by teens over a cigarette
A Pennsylvania was shot and killed over a cigarette Saturday by three teen boys, police report.
One boys was arrested in the murder of Kayla Peterson but the other juveniles are still at large.
Hours after murdering the woman, the two boys posed on faced with guns making gang signs.
CBS News noted in its December 12 report that the western Pennsylvania mom, 22, of one was allegedly gunned down after telling a group of teens to “get a job.”
Reportedly, the woman was shot over a cigarette after she heard the boys trying to borrow one from her baby’s father.
Peterson’s fiance, William Bailey, 28, said he went to a local neighborhood store where he encountered three teenagers who asked him to “bum” a cigarette.
However, he ignored them by pretending they were not there.
The teens followed the pair home, approached man, shouting profanities to which Peterson went inside and told the boys to “get a job and stop running the streets.”
Marcus Velasquez, 14, allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired one shot into Peterson’s chest.
He and two other teens, Todavia Cleckley, 14, and Kyle Goolsby Jr., 13, fled the scene.
Two hours later, the woman shot over a cigarette was dead.
Authorities said the woman’s fiance knew the boys from the neighborhood and even played basketball with one of the boy’s dad before.
Police arrested Goolsby, but the shooter and other juvenile are still being sought.
While Goolsby and Cleckley are not the ones who pulled the trigger, Pennsylvania law says they can be charged with conspiracy.
