Chick-fil-A attempts damage control after latest Dan Cathy tweet on gay marriage
Chick-fil-A is backpedaling from a tweet made by the company’s president, Dan Cathy, in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decisions on gay marriage.
The tweet criticized the ruling which gives federal rights to same-sex marriages in states where they are legal
“Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies,” Cathy tweeted, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Cathy removed the tweet and now Chick-fil-A issued a statement acknowledging the post, saying Cathy’s tweet was a personal comment and his views do not necessarily reflect the company’s views.
“Dan recognizes his views do not necessarily represent the views of all Chick-fil-A customers, restaurant owners, and employees, so he removed the tweet to eliminate any confusion,” the company said.
Chick-fil-A was under attack by the media a year ago after Cathy made comments supporting traditional marriage. However, the backlash inspired a “Chick-fil-A day” across the nation, in which his supporters rallied behind him by eating at the restaurant chain.

AS I HAVE TYPED BEFORE, I DO NOT LIKE Chick-fil-A”s food. WHEN IT COMES TO FAST-FOOD CHICKEN, Church’s Chicken IS “TOP-DAWG” – THE PIECES ARE BIG AND JUICY; AND, THE BREADING “HAS A LIL’ GREASE TO IT” [as a daily drinker of Scotch whiskey, I appreciate that].
AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, Dan Cathy WON “Round One” OF THIS FIGHT; BUT, THIS “Round Two” SHOULD NOT EXIST BECAUSE Mr. Cathy SHOULD HAVE KEPT HIS MOUTH SHUT. BY REMOVING THAT Tweet, Mr. Cathy DAMAGED HIS CREDIBILITY WITH CONSERVATIVES.
