What Can We Learn from Successful Female Role Models?

Business women are people too. They got to where they are because had a vision, a dream, and a lot of hope. However, they had something more than the average woman, which is the ability to actually make their hopes, dreams, and visions come true. This makes them true role models. Take, for instance, Mary Trick, Chief Customer Officer at Infor. Charles Phillips, Infor CEO, depends on her as being mistress of every customer element she works on. There are three things to learn from successful business women:

  • They have been there, they have done that, and they came out on top.
  • They have beliefs and values just like yours.
  • They succeeded and now want to share their success.

Let’s take a look at some truly inspirational female leaders.

1. Oprah Winfrey

Oprah is a self-made billionaire and a true entertainment mogul. She has always believed in herself, wanting to positively impacted the world of women. To achieve this, she broke not just the gender barrier, but the race barrier as well. Thanks to Oprah, millions of women have confidence in themselves.

2. J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling found herself a single mother and having to apply for welfare. This didn’t stop her from trying to reach her vision and dreams. She wrote a story about a boy wizard by hand, and she has become one of the greatest authors around, frequently being referred to as a ‘magical woman’.

Paula Deen Smithfield photo3. Rozanne Quimby

In 1984, Roxanne lived without electricity. Several years later, she owned Burt Bees and earned more than $300 million. Yet her money did not make her forget about her beliefs and values, including her love for nature, her children, and artistic spirit. She bought a jar of honey and saw a business opportunity, turning it into a million dollar enterprise.

4. Paula Deen

A single mother, looking after two boys, had serious anxiety attacks, effectively leaving her housebound. Her spirit could not be broken, however, and to keep herself happy, she started cooking. Today, she has written various cooking books, owns a number of restaurants, and frequently stars on the Food Network.

5. Rachel Ray

Rachel was a ‘spunky’ girl. She loved food and created a unique niche within this world. She looked for opportunity and was happy to take risks, reinventing the way things are done. Today, she has her own kitchen product line, numerous cookbooks to her name, and she is a recognized celebrity.

What Can We Learn from Women?

  • They know what matters both professionally and personally.
  • They want to financially improve their families and themselves.
  • They have core beliefs and values and stick to them.
  • They have a passion, dream, and vision.
  • They believe they have something good to give to the world.
  • They want to give back.

Think about your own personal female role models. Ask yourself what makes them so special. Once you have figured that out, learn from them. That is what they would want, to be inspirational and to make sure others can do just as well.
