TJ Miller talks ‘Deadpool,’ stunts with Ryan Reynolds, playing Weasel
On TBS’ Conan last night, actor TJ Miller teased that he wasn’t afraid to spill all of Marvel’s secrets about the upcoming Deadpool film. Being the comedian that he is, things take a unique turn.
“It’s very hush-hush. At Marvel, they don’t really want us to talk about the movie and the specifics, or give away any of the plot or anything, but I say I’m happy to talk about it. I don’t care.”
When asked if Deadpool is an origin story, the straight-faced actor essentially revealed it was all a ruse, as he launched into a series of hilariously vague answers.
“It is. In a way, everything is an origin story, Conan. We’re seeing how this character is coming about, where he comes from, but also where he’s going to go. Ryan Reynolds does things in the film, sometimes he doesn’t do anything at all. I do some things in the film, sometimes. Sometimes, I’m not even in the movie. It’s a great film, as you can tell.”
Miller’s character Weasel is the best friend, sidekick and arms dealer to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. The actor also tried to shed more light on the stunts in Deadpool, in his unique and colorful way.
“Oh, yeah. The great thing about this film is there are a lot of stunts, but then there aren’t any stunts. People say, ‘T.J., do you do your own stunts?’ Yeah, some parts of the movie, I might have stunts, and some parts of the movie I may not have stunts. At one point, I just walk across the street. That’s all me, Conan.”
Deadpool is halfway through production, with a supporting cast that also includes Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano and Ed Skrein.
Deadpool arrives in theaters on February 12, 2016.
