‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 regulars update, new Negan photo released
AMC’s The Walking Dead shuffled some more roles as the season 7 premieres in October. Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan tops a list of four characters getting a promotion as the cast member has been bumped to series regular status. To promote the new season, AMC from a new pic of Morgan, this time wielding a machine gun and not his beloved baseball bat, nicknamed Lucille.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, four actors introduced during the second half of Season 6 have been promoted to series regular status for Season 7:
• Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan, leader of the Saviors)
• Xander Berkeley (Gregory, leader of Hilltop Colony)
• Tom Payne (Jesus, resident of Hilltop working with Rick’s group)
• Austin Amelio (Dwight, Daryl’s early Season 6 frenemy who killed Denise and now works for Negan)
THR reviews each character briefly, stating that “Amelio is Dwight, a badly burned member of Negan’s dastardly Saviors who has a particular bone to pick with Daryl (Norman Reedus). And Berkeley is Gregory, the shady leader of the Hilltop Colony who is poised to clash with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) — provided the pregnant Alexandria Safe Zone resident survives the finale.”
The show now has a new record of regulars, with at least one set to die during the premiere. Here’s the full list of 20:
Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), Lauren Cohan (Maggie), Chandler Riggs (Carl), Danai Gurira (Michonne), Melissa McBride (Carol), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), Lennie James (Morgan), Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), Alanna Masterson (Tara), Christian Serratos (Rosita), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Austin Nichols (Spencer), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Tom Payne(Jesus), Austin Amelio (Dwight), and Xander Berkeley (Gregory).
Season 7 will see Negan in control and fans can expect a much worse villain that The Governor.
According to Games Radar, Morgan created an imaginary battle for the two and weighed down the results.
“It’s not even close. I mean, I love David Morrissey, but he wouldn’t stand a chance. Wouldn’t stand a chance. I’d put Negan up against anybody. He’s super smart and there’s no filter, no fear. The Governor was a little bit wack. Negan’s got it together. It wouldn’t even be close. And I’m sorry, ‘cause I really love David. He’s awesome. I worked with him for a year and there’s just not a better guy. But Negan versus the Governor wouldn’t be close.”
