Pro-life group sets up 915 crosses at US Capitol to represent abortions performed daily
A pro-life group is attempting to raise awareness with a new activism event called “Exposing the Abortion Trifecta” which included placing 915 “Pink” crosses on the lawn of the US Capitol building.
Students for Life of America and the Christian Defense Coalition are uniting to target their “trifecta”: (Kathleen) Sebelius, Obamacare and Planned Parenthood.
The event was almost halted, SFLA’s kristan Hawkins Hawkins says.
“That’s right, Capitol Hill Police told us “NO” that we would not be allowed to set up crosses to honor and remember the children that are killed every day by Planned Parenthood. However, after threatening to sue for our first amendment rights, they have agreed to allow our display,” she said.
915 Pink crosses are to “honor the 915 preborn babies Planned Parenthood aborts daily nationwide.”
Hawkins told LifeNews: “This April, Secretary Kathleen Sebelius issued a regulation ordering health insurance companies to cover Planned Parenthood clinics in their state exchange plans. In addition, Sebelius’ HHS has labeled pregnancy as a “preventable disease” requiring all health insurance providers to cover at 100% potentially abortion-inducing, cancer-causing contraception in every health insurance plan nationwide – almost guaranteeing Planned Parenthood hundreds of millions in new taxpayer funding.”
“I don’t know about you, but I was shocked when HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius admitted yesterday that she still doesn’t know whether or not Obamacare funds abortions with our taxpayer dollars,” Hawkins continued.
“Despite all of the promises we heard from President Obama when he was trying to force the passage of his healthcare legislation, you and I have known for years that Obamacare is forcing us to pay for abortions and potentially life-ending contraception with our tax dollars,” she said. “So, today, your Students for Life is taking action. We are on our way right now to Capitol Hill to set up our Planned Parenthood Project and host our Exposing the Abortion Trifecta: Obamacare, Sebelius, and Planned Parenthood press conference.”
“It’s time our nation learns the truth about this abortion trifecta, and Americans demand that once and for all the nation’s abortion Goliath, Planned Parenthood, be de-funded 100% before January 1st when they stand to make millions more from Obamacare,” Hawkins concluded. “Today, in front of the U.S. Capitol, our 915 pink crosses honoring the babies that Planned Parenthood will kill today and our 5 banners explaining Planned Parenthood’s scheme to profit off young women is just what our nation’s leaders and media needs to see.”
