Keri Russell on ‘The Americans’ season 2, sex scenes on uncomfortable, wigs are too much work
As the FX hit show The Americans heads into the second season, star Keri Russell discusses the awkward aspects of the show and why she couldn’t cut it as a spy.
Talking with Vanity Fair, Russell reflects on the show before addressing the intense, steamy sex scenes.
Describing them as uncomfortable because they’re typically filmed at “some cheap-y hotel in Staten Island at nine A.M.” Russell gets through them in one way: “There is no way this is going to happen unless there is a beer had. Are you serious?! Hello, stranger!”
The Felicity star says she’s not cut out to be a spy in real life.
“It’s all the wig changes,” she says. “It’s too much work.” And you can’t feel the wind in your hair.”
In addition to The Americans Russell will star opposite Zero Dark Thirty star Jason Clarke for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes which arrives in theaters this summer.
The Americans season 2 begins Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 10 p.m. on FX

What a terrible idea to schedule the premiere during Music’s biggest nights. With Breaking Bad over, and Homeland taking a turn of the “Come on man,” The Americans could be the best show on T.V. now, why ruin it by starting this week? I’ll still watch but damn that is bad producing.
