Free ‘Straz Live in the Park’ set for Saturday, ‘Schoolhouse Rock live’ next weekend
Enjoy a great concert Saturday at the Curtis Hixon Part with Straz Live! in the Park and then the Schoolhouse Rock Live! presentation next week (more information and details below.)
Straz Live! in the Park features a lively concert of sensational Broadway tunes and familiar arias from popular operas. The music will be brought to life by Broadway performers from Disney’s productions of The Lion King and Newsies, Tampa’s own Broadway star Kissy Simmons and by the Opera Tampa Singers.
The public is invited to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a delightful afternoon of beautiful music. Food trucks and award-winning local visual artists, will add to the festivities.
This is a FREE event.
A Picnic Table Package is available for $125, ensuring reserved seating for eight in a prime location. Those who purchase a table package can also let their creativity flow by participating in a Table Decorating Contest. Tables may be purchased by calling 813.229.STAR (7827) or 800.955.1045 outside Tampa Bay, in person at the Straz Center Ticket Sales Office or online at www.strazcenter.org. The last day to purchase a table is Thursday, Oct. 29.

NEXT WEEKEND: The Patel Conservatory at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts will present Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. in TECO Theater, Nov. 5-8.
After seven weeks of preparation, about 40 Patel Conservatory students in grades two through eight will perform the musical Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. Based on the popular 1970s cartoon shorts, this faced-paced show teaches lessons through the use of clever, catchy tunes. The Emmy® Award-winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series and pop culture phenomenon is now the basis for one of the most fun musicals ever to hit the stage.
Directed jointly by the music and theater faculty of the Patel Conservatory, the collaboration among the directors will offer students the experience of working with multiple directors and the audience the opportunity to enjoy collaborative creativity at its finest.
Performances are Thursday, Nov. 5 and Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 and 4 p.m. Regularly priced tickets to Schoolhouse Rock Live!
