Bernie Sanders thanks Donald Trump for revealing ‘corrupt tax system’ to Americans
Bernie Sanders was on the campaign trail with Elizabeth Warren Sunday and quickly took aim at Donald Trump, especially over Trump’s tax returns.
“I have been running all over this country for a year and a half talking about a corrupt tax system. And in one day, Donald Trump did more to explain the corrupt tax system to the American people than I did in a year and a half. Thank you, Donald,” Sanders said.
“What Donald said is, ‘Yeah, I’m a multibillionaire. I’ve got mansions all over the world. But you know what? I, a billionaire, don’t have to pay any taxes and I’m proud of it because you suckers are going to pay the taxes for me,’” Sanders continued, referring to tax records that show Trump could have avoided paying federal income tax for nearly two decades.
“We’re going to beat Trump and beat him badly,” Sanders said. “And we’re going to bring millions of people together to create a political revolution.”
The tax issue has been one that Sanders pressed back before the first debate.
“Mr. Trump, do you really think that billionaires need a massive tax break?” Sanders pressed back on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, before turning to other liberal talking points.
“Mr. Trump, do you really think that when the entire scientific community tells us that climate change is real and a threat to the entire planet, that you think it’s a hoax? What’s your scientific basis for that? Mr. Trump, tell me what you’re going to do? You want to abolish the Affordable Care Act for 20 million in this country off health care. How many are going to die, how many are going to become much sicker? What’s your view on taking on the drug companies? You go issue by issue and I think you expose him for the fraud that he is.”
