Thailand badminton brawlers, Bodin Issara and Maneepong Jongjit to answer charges over altercation
Disciplinary cases were opened up today by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) against two Thailand players who were engaged in an altercation in the Men’s Doubles final of the Yonex Canada Open tournament last Sunday.
The BWF’s Disciplinary Committee have written to Bodin Issara and Maneepong Jongjit – via the Badminton Association of Thailand – outlining a number of alleged breaches against them under their Players’ Code of Conduct.
Issara is charged with inappropriate conduct, oral abuse, physical abuse and others, while Jongjit is charged with similar offences.
During Sunday’s bruhaha, Issara chased Jongjit onto a neighboring court before tackling him to the ground and punching him several times to leave him needing two stitches.

Both players have been advised that “the investigation and hearing (into this matter) will be undertaken using written reports, submissions and evidence”.
Along with the letters, reports from tournament officials as well as video footage of the incident were forwarded by BWF to the Badminton Association of Thailand.
Both players were also asked to provide written statements by next Tuesday (July 30).
