Bengali girl Mishti is Subhash Ghai’s new girl for ‘Kaanchi’
Ace filmmaker, Subhash Ghai has ended his four-year hiatus with his new venture, “Kaanchi” and has finally found the face he was looking for. Mishti, a Bengali girl will be making her debut in Ghai’s upcoming flick.
Ghai left no stone unturned to find the right face for his ambitious project, which boasts a colossal budget of Rs 35 crores.
He told TOI,” “More than 240 girls auditioned for the role but most were devoid of talent. The ones who were talented were not good looking.”
Talking about Mishti he said, “I liked her pictures and decided to call her to Mumbai. We made her go through various screen tests for six days. I must say she came out with flying colours. She is an actress of Kajol’s caliber.” Now that’s a tall claim. It will be interesting to see if the sweet and simple looking Mishti lives up to the expectations of her director.
Meanwhile, Kartik Tiwari, who has played the lead in the soon-be-released Akaash Vani, will be the male lead opposite Mishti. Ghai has also signed Mithun Chakraborty and Rishi Kapoor.
Not giving much away, Ghai shared a snippet of “Kaanchi’s” plot, which is a story of a girl who lives in the hills of Uttrakhand. Her father who is an ex- army man is shot and killed and with that her life changes, and what follows is her journey of how she fights back and emerges a winner.
