New TV spot, poster for ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ stars Andy Serkis as Caesar
Fox released the first TV spot and a new poster for this summer’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
The poster shows Caesar (Andy Serkis) holding an infant ape close to his chest, likely attempting to show the increasing human like traits of the apes, while an eerie TV spot attempts to communicate the advantage the apes have over the humans.
Check them out below.
Director Matt Reeves takes over as the film picks up years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
““He’s the sort of designated leader if you will of this community of those that were lucky enough to survive the simian flu, the disease, and then the ensuing social uprising from it….,” star Gary Oldman said of his character, revealing some plot details.
“…they (humans) need power and there’s a power station and some of my people go out to see if it’s operational, if it’s still out there, and then they discover that there’s a whole community of apes living there.”
The film stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Kirk Acevedo, Enrique Murciano, and Judy Greer.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens in 3D on July 11th.
Here’s the official synopsis for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes:
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
