The death of Elisa Lam deemed an accidental drowning
In a follow-up to a February report, a woman whose body was found in a water tank of a Los Angeles hotel in February has been called an accidental drowning by medical examiners, according to a CNN report.
The decomposing body of 21-year-old Elisa Lam, a student at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, was found floating inside a water tank on the roof of the Cecil Hotel in February after a maintenance worker went to check on it after complaints a low water pressure by guests.
Apparently, Lam’s body was in the water source for guests for nearly three weeks while hotel guests brushed their teeth and bathed in it.
Lam was visiting Southern California on her own and was last seen at the Cecil Hotel on January 31.
A security video taken in an elevator at the hotel and released by the LAPD acting suspicious, acting as if she was hiding, clad in a red hoodie.
At least two former guests of the hotel have filed a class-action lawsuit against the hotel in late February claiming the water was “tainted” and contaminated by human remains.
