More Than Words 2018: Levi Lusko calls Christians to seek peace, offers principles to live by
An exciting conference in Palmetto, Florida, More Than Words, featured Pastor Levi Lusko of Fresh Life Church, a multi-site church located in Montana, Utah, Oregon, and Wyoming. Ministering to teens, youth and pastoral leaders, Lusko spoke from Jeremiah 29 on “The Things That Make for Peace.”
After recounting the Jewish exile in Babylon, not being able to “enjoy the blessings” because they didn’t “stay close to God,” Lusko explained Jeremiah’s tough message to Israel: “God has forgiven you, but the bad news is, you can’t go back (to the promise land) for seventy years…Even though you can be forgiven, the consequences (of your actions) don’t go away.”
He reminded the enthusiastic crowd: “Remember, God would rather bless and use you than forgive you…over and over again.”
Lusko was one of three speakers during a busy conference hosted by Gus Cabrera, the Program Director of the Loving Hands Ministry. Loving Hands is a two-year Christ centered residential discipleship program designed to rehabilitate men who have life controlling problems, freeing them from their addictions.
As Pastor Lusko continued, explaining the options for life in Babylon, living among the world of sinful behavior: Isolation (retreating, which sends the world to hell); Imitation (compromise leads to corruption; Infiltration (living and loving your neighbors).
Then he offered up principles to guide a Christian life:
WORK HARD
“Something being hard doesn’t make it bad,” he stated, focusing on the value of work ethic.
DO GOOD
“People don’t care what you believe until they see how you live.”
ENJOY LIFE
“Take life serious, but don’t take yourself so seriously.”
BE PATIENT
“It takes time,” Lusko said, pulling out Christ’s instructions on living, which is in direct contradiction to the current “Netflix generation…seeking Amazon Prime style results” and instant gratification.
