‘Supergirl’ season 2 will include Clark Kent, Superman appearance
Supergirl is getting a big positive fan feedback with the announced launch on the CW and fuels more excitement with a confirmed appearance by Clark Kent, Superman in season 2.
Deadline confirmed the casting news as the Man of Steel will be visiting his cousin Kara (Melissa Benoist) in National City. It is unclear if Superman will appear in further episodes, but given his close ties with Kara, that appears likely.
“Greg, Ali and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, who co-created the series with fellow exec producers Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler. “We cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape.”
Deadline noted that Kreisberg’s comment indicates that a new actor will take on the role, previously played by Tom Welling on TV in Smallville and currently by Henry Cavill on the big screen.
Supergirl‘s producers had said that they intentionally did not feature Superman on the first season of Supergirl to not distract from the focus of the series, Kara.
Supergirl already teamed up with another famous DC superhero, The Flash, in an episode last season.
The second season of Supergirl will air in the series’ previous CBS time slot if Monday 8 PM.
