Rand Paul to Hillary Clinton: ‘Where in the hell were the Marines?’
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), in what some say is part of him looking ahead to a 2016 presidential bid, spoke to Iowa Republicans last night to keynote at the Iowa Republican Party’s Lincoln Day Dinner in Cedar Rapids.
The keynote address started out with a lot of levity; however, got progressively more serious as the speech went on.
Following a speech riddled with jokes by Iowa’s own Sen. Chuck Grassley, Dr. Paul came out with his own joke:

“I was in New York the other day, we were driving down the road and we come up to the Federal Reserve. The police are everywhere. The road is blocked and we’re sitting there for hours, so we get out of the car and ask the police what happened? They said the Federal Reserve has been robbed. We said, Really?! Yea, but they caught the thieves, they got in front of the safe, they had the big safe open, but they were perplexed. They didn’t know what to do with minus $16 trillion.”
Paul entertained the GOP crowd with stories of the increased bureaucracy associated with Obamacare, These include new diagnostic codes to be used for injuries from animals, including nine new codes for injuries from the macaw and two from injuries from a turtle. Paul adds, “Your physician needs to tell the government whether you were struck by a turtle or bitten by a turtle.”
The jokes kept coming, not a difficult task just seeing what the government is doing.
In a slightly more serious light, Paul critiques the President’s choice with the sequester, in particular, closing the White House self-guided tour, while at the same time, finding $250 million to send to Egypt, a point that Dr. Paul has brought up many times in the recent past.
“In addition to the $2 billion we are already sending to Egypt, in addition to the F-16s, in addition to the Abrams tanks”, Paul notes.
“He’s got all that money but he can’t keep the White House open?”
Paul offers President Obama some items that could be cut to include the $325,000 study on whether a rattlesnake will bite a squirrel if it’s not wagging its tail and a $500,000 menu for Mars. All very funny in a speech; however, not so funny for the US taxpayer.
He also discussed the Benghazi attack, starting with a question for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, “Where the hell were the Marines?”
The speech got more serious as Dr. Paul stated the Benghazi attack should preclude Clinton from holding higher office receiving a standing ovation.
No levity there.
