NC Congressman Walter Jones says Dick Cheney is probably on his way to hell for the Iraq War
Anti-War Republican and North Carolina Representative Walter Jones debunked many of the lies coming out of the Bush administration for getting the United States into attacking Iraq and its dictator Saddam Hussein during a recent speech at the first ever North Carolina Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) state convention.
The former “freedom fries” neoconservative turned outspoken non-interventionist spoke about how he changed his position on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars to the crowd of young people.
“Too many times in Washington nobody ever apologizes, especially when you send young men and women to die”, Jones said.
He remembers listening to all the Bush warmakers–Rumsfeld, Rice, General Myers, Cheney and Powell. Despite all the convincing that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11, it was all manufactured according to Jones recollections of the briefings.
Jones recollects that night when he voted “for” the Iraq invasion and the regrets he felt after placing his vote. In this heartfelt speech, Jones says, “My faith was strong enough to vote my conscious. I was more concerned about getting reelected, and I regret that, and I will till the day I die”.
Other key statements made by Jones include his praise for former Congressman Ron Paul, “I want to give credit to the man who helped me understand if you’re ever going to send young men and women to die, it needs to be with the Constitution and debated by the Congress.”
And in the most “controversial” statement, Rep. Jones said, “Congress will not hold anyone to blame. Lyndon Johnson’s probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney.”
Anyway, the video really says it all. This is an unbelievably honest and heartfelt speech and should be watched by all.
