Government Shutdown: Scenic overlooks are being closed
The National Park Service is expanding their closures, even after the publicity surrounding the WWII Memorial, now closing scenic overlooks along the George Washington Parkway.
Considered some of areas of amazing beauty drivers would pull into the small cutouts, park for a minute to take in the nature, but a video by WJLA-TV has revealed these areas are being closed as well.
“The overlooks and other recreational areas adjacent to the parkway, just like national parks across the country, are closed because we lack an appropriation. This means that we do not have the ability to maintain these areas – collect trash, make sure road debris is swept, etc…,” said Jennifer Mummart, National Park Service.
As PJ Media points out, “it does cost money — pay, fuel, the cost of the obstacles — to send National Park Service personnel out” to block off spots like scenic overlooks.
“It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation,” an angry Park Service ranger in D.C. tells the Washington Times. “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”
Twitter Shuts Down ‘Truckers for the Constitution’
Oct. 7, 2013 report:

The country’s truckers could show Washington, D.C. and the Obama administration what a ‘real’ government shutdown looks like, October 11-13, 2013! If the Obama administration wants to be vindictive and close off all the public memorials just for spite,
I’m sure the truckers can make it difficult for the government to function by bringing
traffic to a halt in D.C.!!
