Gary Sinise awarded Bradley Prize for ‘supporting veterans, first responders, and their families’

The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation announced today one of four 2016 Bradley Prizes will be presented to actor/humanitarian Gary Sinise, an award-winning actor and founder of the Gary Sinise Foundation.  He is donating the prize amount to his foundation to help continue their important work supporting veterans, first responders, and their families.

Gary Sinise has served as the spokesperson to build the Americans Disabled for Life Memorial and has raised funds for the Pentagon Memorial in Washington, D.C. and the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance in New York.  His band, the Lt. Dan Band, has performed for service men and women across the country and around the world.  Mr. Sinise has starred in the films Forrest Gump and Apollo 13 as well as the television series CSI: New York, and can currently be seen starring in the CBS series Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.

The Bradley Prize will be awarded to Mr. Sinise at a ceremony to be held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, June 15.  Each award carries a stipend of $250,000.

“We recognize Gary Sinise for his philanthropy and civic engagement,” said Michael W. Grebe, President and CEO of the Bradley Foundation. “He has shown unwavering dedication to those who have selflessly served our country and our way of life.”

The selection was based on nominations submitted by more than 200 prominent individuals across the country and chosen by the Bradley Prizes Selection Committee.

“Through the Bradley Prizes, we recognize individuals like Gary Sinise whose work embodies patriotism and generosity, with the hope that others will strive for excellence in their respective fields,” said Mr. Grebe.

Founded in 1985, The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation is devoted to strengthening American democratic capitalism and the institutions, principles and values that sustain and nurture it.  Its programs support limited, competent government; a dynamic marketplace for economic, intellectual and cultural activity; and a vigorous defense, at home and abroad, of American ideas and institutions.  Recognizing that responsible self-government depends on enlightened citizens and informed public opinion, the Foundation supports scholarly studies and academic achievement.
