Michelle Obama recounts Sasha contracting meningitis while promoting Obamacare in radio interview

On this morning’s airing of “The Yolanda Adams Morning Show”, host Yolanda Adams had an exclusive interview with the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.

The president, first lady Michelle Obama and daughters Sasha and Malia all attended the service at St. John’s Episcopal Church, located across the street from the White House. Known as “The Church of the Presidents,” St. John’s boasts having hosted every president for services since 1816 and has a dedicated pew for the commander in chief. photo official White House Pete Souza

In a discussion of The Affordable Care Act, in which Adams uses the adjective “wonderful” to describe it, Mrs. Obama says she “comes at this issue with a very personal perspective”.

The First Lady describes her daughter, Sasha’s battle with meningitis when she was four months old. Obama says, “We were able to deal with it quickly because we had health insurance.”

Mrs. Obama goes on to say, “At that point in time, thats when it became real to me and Barack about how life just throws you these curveballs, and theres nothing like the piece of mind that comes with having insurance.”

She recounts when her and her husband sat in the emergency room asking the following questions–What would we do?, What would we have done if we didn’t have this wonderful insurance? How would we pay for Sasha’s antibiotics?

Mrs. Obama went on to sell “Obamacare” on the radio program telling young people to take care of this the way you take care of your car.
