‘Your Blueprint for Life’ book review
Why do we have a longing inside to be greater, to strive for success, or have an urge to make a mark on the world? How can we structure our lives to achieve and fulfill that “hole in your soul”?
We all know that reading is very important. In his book, author Michael Kendrick wastes no time to lay the groundwork, asking these questions and then diving into a structured “Blueprint for Life.”
“You can live a purposeful, joy-filled existence, not in spite of the hole in your soul, but because of it. And developing your Blueprint for Life will help fill that hole,” Kendrick writes.
The author then begins the journey with warnings against an apathetic life, never pursuing a Blueprint and thus, separating yourself from God.
The pages turn quickly, calling on the reader to understand their “unique calling” and how a life is impacted. Emphasizing God’s timeline (the message of ‘Time is short and eternity is long’ is repeated a few times) Kendrick puts forth great stories, references to historical moments and spiritual outlines to push the reader towards the goal: have a strategy.
Kendrick challenges the reader to make a strategy addressing the physical, spiritual, financial, careerand even relational (i.e. love) — “Some people think there is something unromantic about begin strategic in a love relationship….but a long-term, healthy, thriving relationship requires a certain level of planning,” he counters.
Set against a Christian backdrop, Blueprint will be fit that OCD planner, that control freak, the day planner Christian and NOT the free spirit. There is little “ground breaking” here, but strong and powerful words to get organized and find a Christ-like mission in addressing every aspect of your life.
