‘X-Men Apocalypse’: Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan cast
Bryan Singer tweeted Thursday night that Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner and Tye Sheridan will suit up for X-Men: Apocalypse as the popular mutants Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops.
Apocalypse will be played by Oscar Isaac with Singer returning as director.
Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, has been confirmed as the telekenetic mutant Jean Grey. Shipp is known for her role in House of Anubis and Sheridan for The Tree of Life.
Set in the 1980s, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are all set to return for the third installment of the rebooted X-Men trilogy.
The script is by Simon Kinberg from a story written by Singer, Kinberg, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris.
Isaac wrapped J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: The Force Awakens he went straight into doing press for J.C. Chandor’s A Most Violent Year and Alex Garland’s Ex-Machina.
“After we finish here I’m heading to do a head cast [for X-Men: Apocalypse], which they do often,” Isaac tells Yahoo Movies. “You spend 3-4 hours with them putting plaster all over your head and they get a sense of what your face is like and what shape your head is, so they can start figuring out the costume and the make up and all that stuff, which is pretty fun.”
He elaborated on the costume.
“It’ll be a mix [of practical and digital],” Isaac said. “I haven’t had a script so I haven’t had a chance to look through the script and see what the exact requirements are, but I think it’ll be a mixture of physical, aided with some robotic technology.”
X-Men: Apocalypse arrives in theaters May 27, 2016.
