Daniel Bryan Changes the Climate

Daniel Bryan reveals new WWE Championship belt. Triple H announces AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Mustafa Ali, Samoa Joe, and Daniel Bryan in the Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship.

Botches

  • The story with The Miz and his father is just too hokey and hard to believe. It’s almost as though he was never WWE Champion or Tag Team Champion before.
  • The Mandy Rose story is really going on longer than it needs to, and is getting into hard to believe territory as well.

Bodyslams

  • Becky Lynch is electrifying and once again stole the show.
  • R-Truth vs. Shinsuke Nakamura was a fantastic ending. The progression directly into the match with Rusev was great, and giving R-Truth a title reign while he’s hot is a great idea.

The Smackdown following Royal Rumble brought more new stories than RAW the previous night. Heavy Machinery had an excellent showing in their match, while all of the NXT callups were absent the night before. R-Truth coming into the United States Championship picture out of nowhere to win and defend the title was a pleasant surprise. And Daniel Bryan unveiled his new WWE Championship belt made of hemp, wood, and turquoise. But the more things change, the mosre they stay the same. Charlotte Flair is still attached to Becky Lynch, and will probably find her way into Becky’s match at Wrestlemania. The same three teams (The Usos, The New Day, and The Bar) remain in the spotlight in the Tag Team Division. The WWE Championship hunt suddenly became crowded for Elimination Chamber, but is still feels like AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan are all that matter. This seemed like a heavy handed way to deal with the short time frame to set the pieces for Elimination Chamber. But the show was good and the matches were consistent with what the top talent in the industry should deliver.
