Botches
- Daniel Bryan’s appearance on Miz TV was unconvincing, uninspired, and uninteresting. AJ Styles coming out saved the segment.
- Rusev’s promo was pretty bad. It seemed as much his delivery as the script. He can do better than that, and I’m hoping it was just a stumble and not indicative of a downward slide.
Bodyslams
- Becky Lynch is still white hot, and the contract signing was handled magnificently. Bringing Asuka up to the top is paying off and adds more layers to the best angle on WWE television.
- The Triple Threat Match between Xavier Woods, Jey Uso, and Cesaro was fantastic. The new relationship between the Usos and New Day brings something fresh for these teams. Just as seeing them face was becoming stale, I am interested in seeing this unfold. Cesaro showed his star power as well, and the Smackdown Tag Team Championship TLC Match could steal the show.
- Samoa Joe’s appearance on screen to taunt Jeff Hardy was just brutal. That may have hurt worse than when Randy Orton twisted Jeff Hardy’s ear around a screwdriver.
- AJ Styles vs. The Miz was another incredible match. These two know how to build excitement and tell a compelling story in the ring. The Miz takes so much heat as a heel that few give him credit for how good he really is. I’d be happy with a long feud between these two.
Daniel Bryan’s heel turn still makes no sense to me. Not from a business standpoint, not from a story standpoint, not from a character standpoint. WWE threw their wholesome babyface away when he was the biggest fan favorite in the company. The people still want to do the Yes! chants and buy his merchandise. The latest WWE 2K video game has an entire portion of the game dedicated to his career that is geared toward cultivating fandom for Daniel Bryan. Nothing he says when attacking the fans is consistent with reality, it’s just old heel tactics to create heat. But they don’t match the history of his character. None of this makes sense to me, and his promos are not helping in any way. This is the worst part of Smackdown Live to me at this time. The only saving grace is that he is so great to watch in action.
Besides Daniel Bryan’s current story, Smackdown Live is firing on all cylinders and delivering great shows on a weekly basis. Every match was awesome. All of the stories are working. The Women’s Division is on fire, the Tag Team Division is on fire, and the stories are interesting and moving along at a good pace. Smackdown Live is the A Show of WWE regardless of what Vince McMahon would have the company push as a narrative.
i thin smackdown live was going worst match like randy ortam vs jaff hardy again again wwe sowing same think i think jaff hardy is the beast wrestler randy ortam never beat him like this
