WWE RAW Results and Review October 1 2018 : Bowen’s Botches and Bodyslams
WWE Monday Night RAW comes from the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington this week. RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will face Ruby Riott tonight, and Bobby Lashley will get his hands on Kevin Owens before Super Show-Down. Shawn Michaels is promoted as appearing on the fin RAW before Triple H and Undertaker face off this weekend.
Dean Ambrose vs. Braun Strowman
Braun Strowman wins by Disqualification after Roman Reigns comes out and attacks Strowman.
Roman Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler
Roman Reigns wins by Pinfall after a Spear.
Ronda Rousey with The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki) vs. Ruby Riott with The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan)
Ronda Rousey wins by Submission forcing Riott to tap out to an Armbar.
Bobby Roode with Chad Gable vs. Konnor with Viktor
Konnor wins by Pinfall.
The B Team (Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel) vs. The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder)
Bo Dallas pins Dash Wilder. The Authors of Pain attacked The B Team from behind after the match.
Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre wins by Pinfall after the Claymore, with a distraction assist from Dolph Ziggler. Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Dean Ambrose all came out in turn and the team of Ziggler, McIntyre, and Strowman gained the advantage and ultimately stood over the wreckage of The SHIELD.
Bobby Lashley with Lio Rush vs. Kevin Owens with Elias
Kevin Owens wins by Pinfall after the Roll Up on Bobby Lashley
Bayley with Finn Balor vs. Alicia Fox with Jinder Mahal and Sunil Singh
Bayley wins by Pinfall after the Bayley-to-Belly Suplex on Alicia Fox.
Botches
Drake Maverick as the manager for Authors of Pain. He has done little on the mic to put AoP over, so it still doesn’t make sense for him to be there. They can get by on their presence, and Paul Ellering was a better fit. Drake Maverick can be a true mouthpiece, but they’re barely using him as one.
Bobby Roode losing to Konnor. Bobby Roode was hot, but WWE have killed his upward trajectory. People still pop for his music, but letting him get beat by guys who lose to everyone else isn’t going to help anyone, especially Chad Gable.
Shawn Michaels’ rambling promo. This was almost as bad as some of his PPV pre-show appearances.
Bodyslam
Baron Corbin offering Dean Ambrose the opportunity to go after his SHIELD brothers’ titles was a slick move that added great tension to this story. Ambrose making a turn really didn’t seem plausible last week. This gives him a reason to consider it.
Elias’ heat with the Seattle crowd. The fans took exception to his shot at their loss of the Sonics. It was cheap heat, but it was pure hatred coming from those fans.
Alicia Fox and Bayley in the main event match. The show may have ended with Shawn Michaels, Kane, Undertaker, and Triple H in a fight, but the last match was the Women’s Division carrying the show again. Alicia Fox was fantastic in this match. She is far better than her critics would ever admit.
This show was all about Super Show-Down and The SHIELD. Oh, and burying Bobby Roode. The “impromptu” singles matches between the six men facing each other in a match this Saturday were predictable. Baron Corbin’s offer saved the way this unfolded, because it was otherwise trite and telegraphed. The Revival are back, but the RAW Tag Team Championships are tied up in an angle where all of the Men’s Division titles are suffocated. All four belts are held hostage, which is worse than Brock Lesnar disappearing with just one of them. The titles show up on television every week, but there’s no chance of them moving because they’re not being defended. The tag team champions were in singles matches, and will be in a six man tag match where the titles aren’t on the line this Saturday. Moving the titles to a team like The Revival or Authors of Pain who could breathe life into RAW’s tag division again is not coming soon. The Women’s Division stood out again with Rousey vs. Riott and Fox vs. Bayley. Both matches were excellent, and Fox really stood out. The appearance of Michaels, Undertaker, Kane, and Triple H at the end is only going to fuel further speculation for a tag team match between the four at Crown Jewel. We’ll see what happens.
