Writer Alex Kurtzman says ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ addresses questions from first film

The reboot of the Spider-Man franchise raised a ton of questions and introduced a dynamic mystery surrounding the disappearance of Peter Parker’s parents.

Sadly, fans were disappointed when few to no answers emerged by the end of the film. Now, speaking with I Am Rogue, screenwriter Alex Kurtzman encourages fans with news on The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Part of what we were drawn to and intrigued by was wanting to know the answers to a lot of those questions.

“The villains emerge from a lot of unanswered questions at the end of that movie and none of them are random at all, they are all tied together by a theme, an idea, and I think they come from our curiosity about what was going on in the life of Peter Parker and his parents.”

The sudden escape from the city and Richard Parker’s ties to Oscorp are still unanswered, but as Chris Cooper was cast as Norman Osborn and Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) as the young Harry Osborn, fans are likely to see the subplots move forward towards answers.

Director Marc Webb returns with stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field and Martin Sheen. Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Paul Giamatti (Rhino) have been cast as the principal villain with Cooper, DeHaan and Felicity Jones also joining the cast.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives in theaters May 2, 2014.
