‘Wreck-It Ralph 2’ New Year’s teaser promises Thanksgiving release date
Happy New Year!
Ralph from Wreck-It Ralph starred in a short teaser from Disney to promote the sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, but doesn’t offer any footage, just Ralph being a bit embarrassed after ripping a 2017 banner to celebrate the arrival of 2018.
Disney has only said that Ralph’s adventure will take him to the websites for popular Disney franchises, including Marvel and Star Wars, but more surprisingly, Ralph will meet up with many of the Disney princesses, who will come together for the first time in a feature film.
Ralph, voiced by John C. Reilly, will again be joined in the sequel by Sarah Silverman, who played the video game character Vanellope in the first animated film.
Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures) has also joined the cast for the sequel as an Internet expert named Yesss, a trend-aholic algorithm who acts like a guide to Ralph and Vanellope.
The story sees the duo’s game break down and require a replacement part, causing the characters to venture into the wild world of the internet.
The D23 clip featured Vanellope, in a website named OhMyDisney.com, meeting all the Disney princesses in the hopes of stirring up some trouble. But as she interacts with them — in ways that, in rapid succession, lovingly skewer the history and tropes of Disney animated classics and princesses — she develops a respect for them. And she gives them a wardrobe change.
Ariel is so psyched by her casualwear that she nearly breaks into a leisure-themed reprise of “Part of Your World.”) And though Vanellope initially wanted to prank the princesses, she quickly finds she’s got a lot in common with most of them … even if she can’t understand a word said by Brave’s Merida, who speaks in a thick Scottish brogue. “She’s from the other studio,” explains one catty princess.
Voice actors listed on the film include: Kristen Bell (Anna from Frozen), Jodi Benson (Ariel in The Little Mermaid), Auli‘i Cravalho (Moana), Paige O’Hara (Belle from Beauty and the Beast), Ming-Na Wen of Mulan, Pocahontas’s Irene Bedard, Tangled’s Mandy Moore, Kelly MacDonald (Merida in Brave), The Princess and the Frog’s Anika Noni Rose and Frozen’s Idina Menzel.
Anthony Daniels, who voices C-3PO, is listed as well as Alan Tudyk (King Candy in the first film and K-2SO in Rogue One), Jane Lynch as Calhoun and James Corden in an undisclosed role.
Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 will be arriving in theaters on on November 21, 2018.
