‘World’s Finest,’ Superman and Batman team-up film, directed by Zack Snyder will arrive in 2015

At the end of Warner Bros SDCC panel, Zack Snyder was introduced onstage in a surprise appearance, who said he had an announcement “because some s**t’s gonna happen up here.”

Harry Lennix began “We’re not adapting this thing, but it is the thing that will help tell this story.”  He proceeded to read a passage from the Frank Miller comic The Dark Knight Returns.

Lennix read: “I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come, in all your most private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat.  I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”

The room went dark, the Superman logo came up on the screen, and then a big black Batman logo appeared behind the S – the fans went nuts.

“Superman and Batman together on the big screen is a dream come true for DC fans everywhere. All of us at DC Entertainment could not be more excited for Zack’s continuing vision for the DC Universe,” said Diane Nelson, President, DC Entertainment.

The title is expected to be World’s Finest, but that’s open to question for another hour or so. According to the report, Henry Cavill will reprise the Superman role, and Zack Snyder will reportedly direct from a David Goyer script.

Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, and Diane Lane will return with Cavill. Production will begin in 2014 for a 2015 summer release.

It will be interesting to see who they will get to play Batman. I find it hard to believe that Bale will sign on for this movie even though that would be seem many would be interested to see. In any case I take it this is the very first baby step towards a DC Justice League movie.
