Wisconsin salon shooting victim Maelyn Lind called a hero and angel

The family of Maelyn Lind is talking for the first time about a woman who they are now called a hero.

Maelyn Lind

Lind was one of the three killed during the Wisconsin shooting spree by Radcliffe Haughton, who took his domestic issues to the salon, murdered his ex-wife Zina and one other employee (Cary Robuck) of the Azana Salon and Spa.

She was just 38 and her father told 620 WTMJ about his heartbreak.

“I can not begin to tell you how much she is missed,” said her father Keith Hanson.

Lind’s family says she was a hero and angel. A hero for how she acted Sunday, and an angel for the way she lived her life.

“We lost my mom way too early from this tragedy,” says daughter Kaela Lind.

The family describe Lind’s commitment to being a great mother and grandmother and how she attempted to save Zina Haughton’s life.

“Maelyn had intervened to save Zina’s daughter, and I said, ‘It didn’t surprise me, that was Maelyn,'” said her father.

The family says Maelyn and Zina not only worked together but they were friends and she was well aware of Zina’s marital problems.

The Maelyn Lind Family Memorial fund is set up at the BMO Harris Bank in Oconomowoc on Pabst Farm Circle. Funeral arrangements are currently pending.
