William Hurt discusses playing General Ross in Marvel’s ‘Civil War’
With the Avengers set to team-up and then get “divided” in Captain America: Civil War, one bit of surprising news will be an appearance by William Hurt’s General Thadeus Ross, last seen in The Incredible Hulk. Hurt’s character will be a bit different this time out.
“I loved playing Ross the first time because I was able to try and create an ego as big as the monster he was chasing,” says Hurt to IGN. “And one that was as warped too. [Ross in Civil War] is different because it’s a different style. It’s a more modernized style.”
A lot has transpired since the Hulk film with Edward Norton, so it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that Hurt’s character has been transformed.
“What they’ve done is they’ve taken a character who was the Ross from the older film and made a new version. This is a much newer Ross. A much different Ross. And I liked that a lot. I haven’t had a lot of time to understand it, but I’m doing the best I can. And they haven’t fired me yet.”
Civil War is shaping up to be an explosive film with Tom Holland recently cast as Spider-Man set to appear in the film.
Civil War is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. The film returns Chris Evans as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America along with Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany as The Vision, Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle as Jim Rhodes/War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.
Captain America: Civil War will open in the US on May 6, 2016.
