What I want from a President

What I want from a President is someone who knows that they are Public Servant Number One, in the same group as the garbage collector or the postal worker just higher up the pay scale. Someone who knows they weren’t elected to host lavish parties or go on vacations, but do the work they promised to do before the election as stated in the Constitution.

I want someone who will protect and enforce the U.S. Constitution with furor that hasn’t been seen since it was written by the Founding Fathers. How about seeing a picture of the Oval Office and I can see a computer monitor on the desk so I can at least think you’re doing some work?

I want a President that comes to the State of the Union address and says, “Look America, this is what’s really going, but we can fix it. We have to roll up our sleeves, take a bit of pain, but we can get ourselves on the right path.”

I want a President that will tell Congress that they have until Friday afternoon put aside differences and fix a problem hurting American citizens or there will be an Executive Order put out Saturday morning.

I want a President that keeps up with whats going on in the news. I want a President that would read a news article of a Constitutional violation being committed, make a phone call and ask, “What in the hell are you doing over there?” Imagine having FBI agents and Department of Justice lawyers showing up at a school to question the staff on the logic and common sense in accusing a child of terrorist threats with a Pop-Tart gun or the dreaded index finger gun.

How about a local bureaucrat having second thoughts about ordering some business to take down an American flag or pro-American sign in fear of a very sudden visit by federal authorities questioning them on exactly what the First Amendment means, local regulations be damned.

I want a President that will put a choke hold on the ever growing government and force the multitude of government agencies to help Americans and not try to crush them. Imagine if the EPA showed up, said “We’re here to help” and people actually welcomed them. That instead of trying to close a coal plant (and create hundreds of new unemployed workers), they helped by bringing in technology to help clean the air.

Imagine if the IRS showed and said, “Hey, we know you haven’t paid your taxes in years, but lets work things out!” A President that forces duplicate government agencies to consolidate on their own accord or it will be done for them, and will be done in two weeks.

I want a President that doesn’t pardon the turkey for Thanksgiving, does Crossfit instead of golf, and skips out on going to Martha’s Vineyard to walk part of the Appalachian trail.

I want a President that when it’s time to sign a bill into law, they pull out their pocket the Skilcraft click pen that says “U.S. Government” on the side, signs the paper and tells everybody to get back to work, it’s not five o’clock yet!

That’s the kind of President I want, one who actually defends and protects the Constitution from all enemies foreign and (especially) domestic. One who believes in individualism, accountability and the exceptionalism that made America the only country that personally placed our flag on the moon.
