West Sumatra beauty, Whulandary Herman, crowned Miss Indonesia 2013
The 5’9 1/2″ model hailing from Pariaman, West Sumatra was crowned Miss Indonesia 2013 Friday night at the Plenary Hall Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta. She will be representing the country in the Miss Universe 2013 pageant later this year.
Whulandary Herman beat 37 contestants, from 33 provinces across Indonesia, to take home the top title at the Puteri Indonesia beauty pageant, according to a Jakarta Globe report today.
Whulandary was born and raised in Pariaman, West Sumatra. She finished her education through high school in Padang. In 2007, she decided to move to Jakarta and started a career in modeling.
Previous successes for the 23-year-old Sumatra beauty include winning the Asian Top Model of the Year 2010 at the Fashion Asia Awards held in Hangzhou, China in February 2010.
She is the second woman from West Sumatra to win the Puteri Indonesia title. The first one was Melanie Putria in 2002.
“I am very happy, because this title as Miss Indonesia 2013 is a new achievement for me, hopefully I can make our country proud,” Whulandary said.
