‘Wayward Pines’ star Shannyn Soosamon joins ‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 3 as Pandora
Fox’s hit show Sleepy Hollow is headed into season 3 and has added a new cast member: Wayward Pines star Shannyn Sossamon has signed on as a regular.
Sossamon, who currently plays Teresa, the dramatically displaced wife of Matt Dillon’s Ethan Burke on the Fox limited run series Wayward Pines, a regular spot on Sleepy Hollow, playing a character named “Pandora,” a tie to Greek mythology’s curiosity-prone progenitor of all women, according to TV Line.
Sossamon’s Pandora is described as a “mysterious new presence” in the small town and will seek the help of the series’ two main “witnesses,” Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Lt. Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie).
Sossamon, 36, has starred on Mistresses, How to Make It in America, and Moonlight, as well as films like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and a main role in the upcoming Sinister 2.
Season 3 will be without Orlando Jones, who played Captain Frank Irving (joining High School 51) and John Noble’s Jeremy Crane –a character who was also one of the Four Horsemen.
Katia Winter, who has publicly expressed dissatisfaction with her character, apparently exited the series after her role as Ichabod’s wife Katrina came to a tragic conclusion.
Sleepy Hollow will also be moving on after the exit of showrunner Mark Goffman, with replacement Clifton Campbell coming over from The Glades.
Season 3 will be the first filmed outside of North Carolina, filming in Georgia.
TV Line offered up this summary for the new season of Sleepy Hollow: After a disquieting break in the demonic action, Ichabod and Abbie adjust to a world seemingly without Moloch, witchy wives, evil sons and headless ex-best friends. However, nothing is ever quite as it seems, and the eerie calm will quickly give way to the next tribulation, driven by a surprising supernatural presence that will challenge Crane and Mills in ways they never imagined.
Sleepy Hollow returns on October 1 on Fox.
