Ways to Empower Your Stay At Home Husband When You Feel He Is Losing His Confidence

Traditionally, men always have a superior role in every society. They are honed to work hard to provide for the needs of their families. They are the ones who lead the decision making that every family member must follow. But as families evolved, some situations have pushed wives to be the breadwinner of the family, making husbands the homemaker of the household. Stay-at-home dads have been socially accepted, and their role in nurturing their children, which is by tradition the task of their wives, is widely recognised.

Considering the nature of every man, he can quickly lose a grip on his self-confidence, especially if he is economically incapable of giving what a father should provide for his family. As a wife, you can prevent this kind of feeling by giving him the due recognition of his contribution to the family, and letting him see your world as a working mom.

Share what you have been doing at work

Having a glimpse of what you have been doing at work is a relief for a stay-at-home husband. Share with him the nature of your work, who the people are you work with, what problems you encounter, and the achievements you have gained. It is essential that your husband knows it all for him to widen his understanding about what you do, and for you to feel that you have someone to rely on when you feel the stress at work.

Invite him to events at your work

Whenever there is an event at your work that is open for non-employees, invite your husband to see your workplace personally and to meet your co-workers. Take him to a bespoke tailor to make him dressed adequately before coming with you to your work’s event. Introduce him to every person you bump into at the event to make him feel that you are proud of him. Don’t prevent him from talking to other people because it will help boost his confidence.

Know his needs and hear his sentiments

Working mothers sometimes tend to ensure the needs of their children and forget to ask their stay-at-home husband about his material, physical and emotional needs. Since he is the one who is running the household, hear how he handles the home and the difficulties that he experiences. Also, let him rest for some time during your day off, or take the whole family on an outing or holiday. You can also remind him to go to a barber shop to have a haircut, or go to the doctor for a check-up. And lastly, don’t stop him if he decides to find a job and talk about the possible arrangement that will cater to the needs of your children while you both are working.

Assure him of your unwavering love

An effective way to help your husband cope with your current set-up is to assure him that despite your workloads, nothing changes, and the love remains just like when you both started out together. Through this, your husband will not only regain his confidence but also feel secure as your husband.
