Warner developing ‘Suicide Squad’ film with ‘Fury’ director David Ayer
Warner Bros is reportedly moving ahead with a Suicide Squad film and approached director David Ayer about the film. The comic book follows several villains who are sent on impossible missions which should result in their death.
Ayers (Fury, End of Watch) would direct the film which would likely include two of the mainstrays Captain Boomerang and Deathshot.
UPDATE: The film appears to be slated for a 2016 release
Yahoo! Movies notes that Ayer’s involvement is yet to be confirmed, Suicide Squad is just the latest comic-book movie the WB has shown interest in – the studio’s four-year plan was leaked in June 2014, with Wonder Woman, Justice League, Sandman and Shazam all due big-screen outings.
With 20th Century Fox increasing its X-Men output (Deadpool movie due 2016), Sony concentrating on Sinister Six, and Marvel entering Phase 3, comic-book movies are still big business.
