Virginia abortion bill creates chaos the baby can be killed during labor, Gov Ralph Northam attacked over ‘infanticide’ remark
The abortion debate erupted this week after a video surfaced showing the Democratic sponsor of a Virginia abortion proposal, Democrat Kathy Tran, acknowledging the measure would allow women to terminate a pregnancy up until the moment before birth, for reasons including mental health. This could include a decision made during labor.
Tran has said it “eliminates medically unnecessary and unduly burdensome requirements that make it difficult for women to access abortions,” recognizing that “women have the constitutional right to make healthcare decisions about their own bodies.”
During the hearing, Tran acknowledges in the clip below, this would allow abortions “through the third trimester…all the way up to 40 weeks.”

After admitting there were NO limits in the bill before being asked about a women in active labor, “She’s dilating…” the questioner asks: “….that would be a decision that the doctor, the physician, and the woman would make at that point…My bill would allow that. Yes.”

Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam came under fire Wednesday after he waded into the fight over the bill as he said that third-trimester abortions are done with “the consent of obviously the mother, with consent of the physician, multiple physicians by the way, and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities or there may be a fetus that’s not viable.”
“So in this particular example if a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”
Got that?
The baby would be born alive and allowed to die, if they DID NOT want the child.

“This is morally repugnant,” Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., said in a statement to National Review. “In just a few years pro-abortion zealots went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to ‘keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide.’ I don’t care what party you’re from — if you can’t say that it’s wrong to leave babies to die after birth, get the hell out of public office.”
Wednesday evening, Northam tweeted: “I have devoted my life to caring for children and any insinuation otherwise is shameful and disgusting.”
Former Sen. Jim DeMint called Northam’s remark’s “evil.”
“VA Gov Northam is no moderate, this is one of the most vile, radical pro-abortion positions ever put forward. This is evil. He should recant or resign,” he said.
“First New York, and now a proposed Virginia bill that would legalize abortion up to the moment of birth,” tweeted Kentucky Republican Gov. Matt Bevin. “This is a sad commentary on the culture of death that continues to creep insidiously into the laws of our [country].”
“Heartbreaking: VA gov’s pro-abortion dogma is so extreme that he advocates taking the life of babies AFTER they are born. Watch the video. Every human life is precious — a gift from God — and the modern Democratic party’s embrace of late-term (or post-birth) abortion is truly tragic,” Texas Senator Ted Cruz tweeted.
